Jason is a data scientist by profession but has spent many more years playing music. Growing up near Philadelphia, he first studied piano before finding his gateway into community music-making: the cello. Now, he plays in various chamber music settings around the Bay Area, as well as in the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra. He also enjoys composing and arranging music and still has a pipe dream of writing music for the movies. He is curious about how developing technologies may help or hinder human creative expression.
Hazel is a smart and beautiful 3-year old girl.
Victor is a computer engineer by day and a cellist by night. He is actively involved in local music scenes. His other interests include reading good non-fiction books and taking a walk with Hazel.
Derek is a software engineer, but has been playing piano since he was four years old. Nowadays, he's an avid amateur musician who enjoys chamber reading parties where he sometimes gets to play violin and viola as well (no comment about his intonation). He's also heavily involved in a few local community orchestras, notably the Googler Orchestra.
Outside of music, Derek can be found participating in escape rooms and contemplating about the next Lego set he wants to buy.
Xinzhi is a hardware engineer and avid violinist. His musical journey started at the age of four, although diverse interests led him away from violin for a time, his passion was reignited during graduate school, alongside with research, he immersed himself in the vibrant music scene, surrounded by fellow enthusiasts and talented musicians. This journey led him to believe in the transformative power of the music. He actively performs with local orchestras, coaches new and late starters, and shares his fondness of music at recitals in schools, companies and senior communities.
For Xinzhi, Beethoven’s word resonates deeply, "We, finite beings who are the embodiment of an infinite spirit, are born to suffer both pain and joy, and it could almost be said the most distinguished of us know joy through pain."
Yueqi has a background in neuroscience and currently works as a data scientist at a psychiatry company. Her passion for music and piano began at a very young age, which eventually led to her research interest in how the brain processes sound and music. Over the past decade in the US, she has studied with teachers from the Peabody Institute, New England Conservatory, and Stanford University. Yueqi enjoys both solo piano pieces and chamber music. When she is not practicing, you can find her exploring nature or at local climbing gyms.
Ran Feng is a software engineer with a big passion to classical music. He started playing the violin at age of five. From 2015-2016, Ran was the assistant concert master of Sichuan University Orchestra, He further enriched his musical experience as a member of the Student Symphony Orchestra of USC, where he had the privilege of performing the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto as a soloist with the orchestra in 2018. Beyond solo performance, he is enthusiastic to chamber music and performed pieces by famous composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Mendelssohn. Ran mixes his skills in technology with his love for music in a special way.
