Meet the Aloha Quintet, a chamber music ensemble channeling a past whisper of chemical engineering and a whole lot of Cal pride. The Aloha Quintet is aptly named because our initial first violinist and ringleader, Drew, decided to ditch us and take a last minute trip to Hawaii. In his absence, we formed an eclectic mix of Google code monkeys plus a scientist: pianist (and moonlight string player) Derek, violinists (and Berkeley graduates) Beverly and Dannver, violist (and dancing queen) Jennie, and cellist (and former chemical engineer) Christian. Having met in various reading parties, we foolishly decided to leap from page to stage at the eleventh hour.
We hope Drew experiences plenty of FOMO while we play the second half of his favorite piano quintet. Enjoy a performance that's as dynamic as a chemical reaction and as risky as a tech startup.
